HOW TO BE SAVED
In your personal opinion, what does it take for a person to go to Heaven?
There are all kinds of opinions. However, the Bible is very clear, it is simply a matter of F-A-I-T-H.
F is for FORGIVENESS. We cannot have eternal life and Heaven without God’s forgiveness. “In Him (meaning Jesus) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. [Ephesians 1:7a]
A is for AVAILABLE. Forgiveness is available. It is available for ALL. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever (you) believes in Him should not perish (eternal separation from God, i.e., in Hell) but have everlasting life (i.e., in Heaven with God eternally)” [John 3:16]
BUT, FORGIVENESS IS NOT AUTOMATIC. You must do something in order to have God’s forgiveness, that is…admit to God you are a sinner, then ask Him to forgive you and cleanse you of your unrighteousness. Jesus said: “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” Faith is not just an intellectual acknowledgment of Jesus as a prophet and a good person. Faith is a revelation by God’s Spirit touching your heart and an affirmation that Jesus came from Heaven, died for your sins, was resurrected, now sits by His Father (God) in Heaven and will come again to complete the redemptive plan of God.
I is for IMPOSSIBLE. It is impossible for God to allow sin into Heaven. Why? Because if He did, Heaven would not be Heaven anymore but would be as corrupt as earth. Two traits of God and one of man must be acknowledged:
GOD IS…
►LOVE – John 3:16 (see “A is for AVAILABLE” in previous paragraph)
►JUST – God sends no one to Heaven or to Hell…it is a choice that you make…what can be more “just” than that?
►MAN IS SINFUL – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” [Romans 3:23]
QUESTION: If all are sinful, then how can a sinful person enter Heaven where God allows no sin? The answer is found in the letter “T”.
T is for TURN.
QUESTION: If you were driving down the road and someone asked you to turn, what would he or she be asking you to do? Change directions, right? (In the Bible) Turn means repent (change direction of your life). Turn (change direction) from sinful living and selfish motives. “But unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” [Luke 14:3b] TURN to Someone; that is, trust Christ only. There are any
number of people ready to offer their “free” advice…Christ is TRUTH and only He can be trusted with your eternal salvation. The Bible tell us that “Christ died for our sins according to the Scripture and that He was buried and that He arose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” [I Corinthians 15:3-4]
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” [Romans 10:9]
H is for HEAVEN. Heaven is where the “saved” spend eternal life with Jesus and God. Heaven is HERE NOW…accept Jesus; God’s Spirit will live in you. Jesus said, “I have come that they (you) may have life, and that they (you) might have it more abundantly. [John 10:10b] Heaven is also in the HEREAFTER (life after this life on earth). Jesus also said, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” [John 14:3]
At this point you may be asking yourself this question…HOW can I have God’s forgiveness, heaven, eternal life, and Jesus as my personal Savior and Lord? It’s by FAITH Another way of saying it is…Forsaking All I Trust Him. Pray this prayer NOW, “Dear God, I acknowledge that I am a sinner, that Jesus is Your Son, that He died for my sins, that He was resurrected from the dead and lives with You in Heaven, that He is coming again to receive His true believers. I want Jesus to walk with me in my life daily. I want to be with Him in Heaven eternally. Forgive me of my sins and save my soul. Thank You God in Jesus my Savior and Lord’s name. Amen.”
It is critical that you acknowledge to others that Jesus is your Savior and Lord. Tell someone in your family or tell a friend. Jesus said, “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man (Jesus) also will be ashamed when He (Jesus) comes in the glory of His Father (God) with the holy angels” [Mark 8:38]
God desires that you √ read the Bible daily, √ pray to Him daily,√ fellowship with other Christians, √ make a commitment to follow Jesus’ example in baptism, √ make a commitment to walk with Him daily in your life, and √ be involved in Bible study with other believers through a Sunday School class.
Very simply put, it’s as easy as A B C…
Admit you are a sinner.
Believe Jesus is God’s Son & Lord of your life.
Confess your sins.
